Finally I've managed to finish a big painting started few weeks ago. You can see how it was made in a video below. As you could've guessed from the title (and from my previous post) painting is called Mr Fantasizer.
I made another work in progress video on how I've created a small ink painting called Finally I've found a way to love you. Painting is done on watercolor paper I've tried for the first time and it's 18x25cm in size. I wanted to make something colorful, joyful and optimistic to represent a moment in life of finally finding enough love and compassion in my heart to forgive and let go of some painful things from past.
Today I have finished yet another drawing. When I started it five days ago only thing I knew was I wanted it to be predominantly light blue and pink. Color schemes are very important to me and getting them "right" feels crucial. If I don't get the colors right I have trouble staying inspired and motivated to finish a piece. My favorite colors to work with are bright, bold and vibrant like fiery reds or sunny yellows. I also love deep blues and lush greens. However this time I really wanted to play with gentle, dreamy combo of pink and blues. This is purely my personal impression but light blue hues and pinks feel more subtle, kinder and sort of quiet, like a sweet, seductive whisper. There is also something feminine about that combination. But I didn't want this drawing to turn out being too subtle or kind of understated so I added hints of yellow and some black to add contrast. In the end, finished image reminded me of clouds, more specifically pink, fluffy clouds you can sometimes see during sunset on warm winter days on sky over Zagreb. That's why I called the piece Cloudscape. You can click on slideshow below to see some work-in-progress photos.
This is one of my recent drawings, it was inspired by spending a lot of time admiring fascinating images of deep space at Science and Astronomy tumblr and also by my love of drawing jellyfish.
